Greece is not just a land of sunlit coasts, beautiful mountainous regions or picturesque traditional villages…. Nor is it the homeland of Pericles and Aristotle, of Odysseus, Theseus and Jason.
It is also a land where for
2000 years, the authentic spiritual tradition and legacy of Christianity has
been preserved intact, the way it was taught by Jesus Christ, propagated to
other nations by His disciples (the Apostles) and observed for 20 centuries by
innumerable thousands of Christians – men, women, and even children – who
attained self-awareness, profound wisdom, spiritual balance, peace and union
with their fellow-man, with all the creatures of the world, and naturally with
Jesus Christ Himself. Even in our day and age, one can encounter such people in
Greece, provided one keeps open the eyes of their soul…
This is the spiritual
tradition and legacy of the Orthodox Church, which Greece of course shares with
all the traditionally Orthodox Christian peoples (for example, our brethren the
Russians, the Serbians, the Bulgarians, the Rumanians, the Ukrainians, the
Georgians, et al.) as well as with all the other major Orthodox populations in
the rest of the world.
The visitor will find many
places at every step on Greek soil, where saints, ascetics and martyrs once
lived, as well as spiritual champions and teachers of great stature (both men
and women).
A great number of people from all over the world have made this trip, and their life was changed. Not only did they become Orthodox Christians,
but they also diffused the treasures of the Orthodox Church to their own
homelands.
These are the treasures that
we are inviting you to become acquainted with; they are offered for free, to each
and every person, just as God “makes the sun rise and provides the rain” for
free, for everyone.
This is naturally much more
than ordinary tourism; it is a life’s journey – a journey towards our heart and
our soul, towards our fellow-man, and towards the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus
Christ.
We thank you.
